2015 Boat Rally

Was held on Saturday and Sunday September  5th and 6th.
Thanks to the help and support of members, supporters, family and friends the 22nd Whitchurch boat rally has been a very successful event helped enormously by the Ceilidh band Jigsmith playing all weekend.
Thanks to the support of Canal & River Trust and the Small Tasks Team Volunteers we were able to offer free boat rides along the Whitchurch Arm and Llangollen Canal for the general public. This is a great attraction and it is fun for people to experience the canal from a different perspective.
The theme for the decorated boat competition and the evening quiz was Waterloo which caused some amusement with the judges for the Best Decorated Boat. The winner was nb Grapevine owned by David and Dawn Aylwin. Cllr. Malcolm Pate, the Chairman of Shropshire Council, Cllr. Tony Neville, Deputy Mayor of Whitchurch, Wendy Capelle, the Manager of CRT North Wales and Borders, Alan Platt, a member of our local Waterway Partnership and Cllr. Tom Biggins, our local Shropshire Councillor, did the judging honours. Tony Hales, the Chairman of Canal and River Trust, was also spotted enjoying the event.
The dog show was enjoyed by dogs and owners alike and many went away with prizes. The entrants are a good mixture of boaters and locals. We are grateful to Leonard Bros. Vets for judging this for the past few years. Over £2,000.00 was raised towards the small mooring basin we are hoping to build.
The date for the 2016 Whitchurch boat rally is the 20th and 21st August so put the date in your diary now.
